I'm Fighting This War Too - in MY way!

I'm Fighting This War Too - in MY way!
2002 June McHardy

Like almost everyone in the country, I sat glued to the television during beginning of the war. I was awe-struck at the technology that enabled us to see live 'in the moment' action pictures of tanks moving across the desert. I marvelled at the precision with which targets were struck with the intent of minimizing collateral damage, protecting the civilian population. It was a new experience to get first hand accounts from the soldiers themselves - the thoughts and feelings of the young men defending their country with valor and and the inherent morality of a free society.

At the same time, my heart grew heavy as the casualties began to mount. Worry at the thought of the potential results of a chemical or biological attack on the troops or civilians began to invade my thoughts. The reports of women and children being brought among the Iraqi troops as human shields brought anger at the cruel regime. And it gradually dawned on me that this war - many thousands of miles away in a country far removed from my own was definitely impacting on my personal daily life.

I found that I was more dissatisfied, less relaxed and happy, more likely to find fault and to procrastinate ( some of my personal challenges). I was feeling less and less optimistic and hopeful.

In that very short period of time, my feelings of sorrow, worry, anger resulting from my view of the war had already changed my reality!

The good news is that, having recognized this and knowing that our thoughts do indeed create our personal reality, I realized that I do have full and complete control over my own thoughts and interpretations of this war. Furthermore, my positive thoughts can have an impact on my immediate circle of influence. If I can positively effect those in my immediate surroundings, then this circle continues to expand outwardy.

Remember that our current physical world is a result of the collective world

consciousness. The wars, terrorism and disunity among countries at this time is the direct result of the choas and stress in our current world.

To change this one has to start at the beginning. With ourselves.

And it's not as big a job as it appears. There is already a ground-swell of increasing spirituality emerging in our world. More and more people are accepting the responsibility of directing their own lives, both physically and spiritually. More and more are finding out for themselves the dramatic effects of positive thoughts on their own lives and on the lives of others.

If this is really true then why not put this principle to work now? It may be just as simple as making the decision to collectively increase our positives thoughts and feelings and neutralizing the negative ones in this very stressful time.

Shall we put it to the test?

Here are my personal aims:

I can choose to focus on the facts of the case, listening only to keep informed.

I can choose to 'know' that good will triumph over evil.

I can choose to pray for the coalition leaders in their decision-making resulting in a speedy positive resolution to this war.

I can choose to help the troops and the country though letters, goods or donations to the many related programs.

I can choose to remain loving, joyful and centered regardless.

I can choose to do my work to the best of my ability regardless.

I can choose to fight this war in THIS way.
